As part of the process of including local communities informed with regards to the development of the Robin Rigg wind farm, an E.ON representative Is to make a presentation next week.
The integrated energy company's Ian Johnson is to talk about the progress on the offshore wind farm at a meeting in the west Cumbria branch of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, according to the Cumberland News.
Located in the Solway Firth, the Robin Rigg project will have 60 turbines, each 126 metres high to the tip of the blade.
The wind farm will have a total capacity of 180 megawatts, enough to power nearly 120,000 homes, claims E.ON.
Last month, members of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers visited the E.ON biomass facility at Steven's Croft.
They learned that the plant will generate enough carbon neutral energy for the equivalent of 10,000 homes, displacing 140,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases every year.
It's fuel blend will be comprised of 60 per cent sawmill co-products and small round wood, 20 per cent short rotation coppice and 20 per cent recycled fibre.
