A Camden home with various energy efficient measures which E.ON recommends has received a top environmental award.
The Victorian Home of the Future received the award for existing schemes that have been refurbished or improved and the Inside Housing Awards last week.
It beat five other entries to the prize, with judges impressed by the improvements made by Camden Council and University College London, which claimed the homes carbon emissions were cut by 80 per cent.
To achieve this goal, the home was fitted with a high standard of
insulation and its air tightness was boosted.
Solar thermal heating panels were placed on the room and a heat recovery ventilation system was installed as were double glazed windows.
Councillor Chris Naylor, executive member for homes and housing strategy at the council told 24Dash: "The EcoHome is a pioneering project and is amongst only a handful of houses in the country that has been refurbished to achieve such high reductions in emissions possibly the highest."
E.ON provides customers with advice on reducing their carbon emissions and cutting their bills, including measures such as hanging thick curtains and replacing existing boilers.
