A green building constructed with sustainable production methods has been awarded an environmental prize by the the Consortium of Local Authorities in Wales (Claw).
The Torfaen-council owned building is a venue for environmental seminars and workshops, and won the Claw sustainability award for its energy efficiency and the green techniques used in its construction.
About 85 per cent of the materials from the building which used to sit on the site in the industrial estate have been reused in the new building's construction including the sink.
The building is well insulated with straw bales, reducing the amount of energy it requires to be heated.
It also has solar photovoltaic panels on the roof and a wind turbine to generate electricity.
The building, which is part of the Encourage project, is also open to visitors to see energy efficient mechanisms in place.
E.ON can provide home owners and businesses with advice on installing wind turbines, photovoltaic solar panels and other energy efficiency measures.
