Landlords will be able to attract tenants more easily if they ensure their houses are environmentally friendly.
Nancy Baynes, spokesperson for the Energy Savings Trust said that simple renovations to a property will help make it more attractive to eco-minded potential tenants.
"It is vital that rental properties as well as private residences are made as energy efficient as possible," she commented.
"An energy-efficient home with lower running-costs will be much more appealing to prospective tenants. Indeed our Green Barometer research tells us that eight in ten people would think twice about renting from a landlord whose property had a poor EPC."
A number of initiatives have been noted by the London Climate Change group that can help landlords become greener.
Incentives such as the Landlords Energy Saving Allowance give tax breaks for landlords that install insulation in their properties.
Landlords with tenants on benefits can also get such improvements as a new boiler free of charge through the government's Warmfront programme.
