More should be made of green housing by estate agents, Friends of the Earth has stated.
Rising fuel bills and a slowdown in the economy have made green houses more attractive than ever to potential buyers, Marie Reynolds of Friends of the Earth has said.
"There is a clear public appetite for green homes - estate agents should realise that energy efficiency is a definite selling point," she commented.
"Some green measures e.g. solar panels are currently expensive to install but once in they actually save households hundreds of pounds every year and help cut carbon dioxide emissions at the same time."
Around 53 per cent of homeowners would be willing to pay up to £3,350 more for a green home, the Energy Savings Trust reported in August.
Two-thirds also wanted to see more guidance from estate agents as to the expected running costs of a potential home a move now helped by the Energy Performance Certificate.
