People should consider carbon when buying products and making home improvement, Friends of the Earth has said.
Martyn Williams, climate change campaigner for the group said that people can make the necessary adjustments "steadily".
"It's not an instant thing. Every time somebody buys a new house, plans renovations to their house, changes their car or buys new products like washing machines, dishwashers, whatever it might be, people need to buy the most efficient ones possible," he said.
"The most important thing is that we just steadily change the way we think when buying products and to think more about the carbon and not just the cost [or] colour."
Changing from high emitting energy sources to low energy ones is one of the best way of cutting emissions, although there are plenty of smaller things that can be done to, such as good recycling and taking public transport.
