Installing insulation in the home can help reduce the burden of energy bills, according to Herefordshire Council's councillor Phill Cutter.

Dubbed the councils "energy champion" by the Hereford Times, Cllr Cutter is has been involved in an event at Ross-on-Wye today where residents were given energy efficiency advice.

He told the newspaper: "I am aware fuel prices are rising at an unprecedented rate and are forecast to rise even further and having a better insulated home is one way to reduce this burden."

Energy efficiency coupled with reducing consumption can combat the effects of rising gas and electricity prices, which have been pushed upward by costs on the wholesale markets.

Publicly owned energy company E.ON has pointed out that energy efficiency has many advantages for community buildings.

As well as saving money and increasing the comfort of the building, E.ON claims that making a community building energy efficient will help emphasise the importance of being careful with resource use.
