Energy efficiency measures recommended by E.ON are featuring in the regeneration of one South Yorkshire town.

Two hundred houses in Thurnscoe are being renovated by Bramall Construction, with the completion date set to be in March.

The houses will get new windows, doors and insulation. According to E.ON, loft insulation is the most important building insulation component, is the cheapest to install and also the most cost effective.

According to the largest publicly-owned energy company in the UK, recommended thickness for loft insulation has risen over the years and is currently 270 millimetres.

By installing insulation, the developers are ensuring that the residents will arrive in homes which are more energy efficient.

Councillor William Newman, cabinet spokesperson for development, told The Star: "The property improvements completed so far in east Thurnscoe have had a significant impact."
