Britons 'want energy efficiency at home'

People in the UK are becoming increasingly concerned about climate change and want to take steps in their homes to improve their energy efficiency, research has suggested.

The study by market research firm Ipsos MORI found that Britons were interested in making changes to their energy consumption in several ways.

These included eco-makeovers to homes and creating their own energy with the help of renewables.

Ed Miliband, the energy and climate change secretary, said: "We spoke to citizens around the nation and found that there is a strong desire for government action.

"People are enthusiastic and positive about the need for better energy efficiency in our homes and communities. They understand that the twin threats of climate change and security of supply means we have to get serious about developing alternative, low-carbon sources of energy."

We recommend home insulation and double glazing to help the climate change movement as well as to reduce energy bills.
