The Scottish Government has announced plans to reduce gas and electricity costs for elderly and low income households.

We will be helping deliver a programme of improvements to homes to help them with reducing energy bills as part of a Scottish Government initiative.

Deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon, announced new plans to cut energy bills for the elderly and low income families.

As part of this plan insulation and central heating will be installed in the homes of people who qualify for the assistance.

Under the terms of the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target, we will be helping deliver the package to help households pay less for their energy.

Launching the Energy Assistance Package, Ms Sturgeon said that the project was "underpinned by record funding of over £60 million a year, which is 30 per cent more than the original fuel poverty budget."

She added: "What we believe is needed to tackle fuel poverty is an approach that engages with the people most affected and addresses their needs."

We also offer fixed price tariffs to over-60s, protecting them from any price rises during the course of a year.
