Insulation scheme to reduce energy bills

A scheme to reduce energy bills in Nottingham by giving them free insulation is working "efficiently", according to the city council deputy leader Graham Chapman.

Over 750 homes are receiving insulation to boost their energy efficiency and reduce heating bills as part of the Nottingham WarmZone project.

Residents over 65 and those on benefits receive free insulation, while the remainder are entitled to insulation for the discounted rate of £49.

The programme has been designed to reduce the heating costs of households which spend ten per cent of their income on energy bills – those which are in fuel poverty.

According to the Nottingham Evening Post, there are an estimated 10,000 homes in fuel poverty in the city and the scheme has started in Aspley and Bilborough.

Mr Chapman said: "Insulation reduces bills at a time when energy prices are soaring.

"I am delighted the WarmZone has worked so efficiently. This is a high priority for the council."

We can help households that want to reduce their heating bills by providing advice and support on insulation.
