Yorkshire organisations may wish to push
energy efficiency further up their agendas if they want to boost their success, it has been suggested.
A recent poll carried out by Resource Efficiency Yorkshire (REY) revealed that 59 per cent of businesses recognised the importance of
energy efficiency and felt that the firms that would prove the most successful this century would be those that were able to minimise their impact on the environment.
However, 25 per cent of respondents stated that they would need support if they were to meet the government's
carbon emissions reduction targets, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
Programme director at REY Andy Hartley said: "In taking the path to resource efficiency, businesses will be better placed to meet the key challenge of maintaining wealth creation while reducing greenhouse gas emissions."
In order to achieve
cheaper gas and electricity bills there are a number of steps businesses can take, including switching to low energy lighting, turning off all electrical appliances rather than leaving them on stand-by and turning down the thermostat by one degree Celsius.
