Solar panels are helping to
reduce the gas and electricity bills of over 30 homes in Chester, a report notes.
According to the Chester Chronicle, Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) has introduced the renewable energy initiatives in an effort to boost the area's energy efficiency and cut household utility bills.
As part of the group's three-year programme, new efficient gas boilers have already been installed in a number of properties and the improvements have now been boosted thanks to the addition of solar panels.
Dave Soothill, CDHT assistant director of asset management and development, said: "Solar heating reduces carbon emissions and fuel poverty, as well as giving our properties greater energy efficiency for the winter."
He added that he hoped the efforts would give a helping hand to tenants throughout the winter by preventing people from falling into fuel poverty.
Landlords have recently been advised that
investing in energy efficiency could help to attract tenants with the promise of reduced gas and electricity bills.
