Low-carbon tech 'boosts eco credentials'

Low-carbon technology features in a tourist attraction that is the first activity centre in Wales to be awarded five stars by Visit Wales agency.

A ground source heat pump for hot water and warming buildings is among the various measures installed at the Preseli Venture Eco Lodge.

"Investing in the future was a key priority for the eco lodge’s new build and upgrade," Nick Hurst, Preseli Venture's owner told the Western Telegraph. "All the hot water and heating in the lodge comes via our new ground source heat pump, and we source our electricity from a company committed to renewable energy."

But its not just the environment that benefits from the improvement since the new measures also boost the attraction's environmental credibility.

Marketing manager Clare Carlile told the newspaper: "We've found that we have a growing client group that consider eco credentials as part of their decision making process, so we’re as much responding to demand as following our own hearts and environmental beliefs."

The measures will also contribute to helping the UK meet its target of cutting carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.
