Energy efficient housing developments have been recognised in Northern Ireland.
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive hosted the first Home Energy Awards earlier this month and acknowledged the work of developers and local councils to create energy efficient homes.
Creggan Park in Derry was named as the Most Energy Efficient Initiative, with the organisation recognising its 20KW wind turbine, hydro energy and efforts to increase environmental awareness in the community.
'Most Energy Efficient Refurbishment Scheme' went to Hearth Housing Association for its Eco House development in Ormeau Park where a historic building was refitted using sustainable material and is now powered by renewable energy.
Margaret Ritchie, social development minister, presented the awards and said: "I would like to congratulate the companies and organisations honoured today for their work in improving energy efficiency and tackling fuel poverty."
She added: "I think the level of commitment to
improving energy efficiency in Northern Ireland, in both the social and private sectors is clear from the high standard of entries we received."
