Residents of Kent can now make savings on a device that will help them cut their energy bills.
The Sevenoaks District Council, along with others in the county has launched a scheme to offer a grant of £1,500 to home owners to install
solar thermal water heating system in their home.
Solar water heating uses the sun's energy to heat a liquid which then heats the water in the storage tank, reducing the amount of electricity or fuel a home uses to heat its water.
This leads to savings on energy bills.
And, the council points out that if households get a grant from the
Low Carbon Building Programme of £400, they will have received almost half the cost of a new system.
Cabinet member for home energy efficiency, councillor Carol Clark said: "Using solar energy can provide some great savings on your utility bills, and with this scheme providing a huge discount on the cost of a solar energy system, it is the perfect chance to think about installing such a system in time for hopefully a sun filled few summer months!"
We can offer advice on installing this energy bill-cutting technology, though we recommend some cheaper steps such as installing
insulation are taken first.
