Corporate responsibility and public pressure are expected to play a part in corporate tenants' willingness to pay more for buildings powered by renewable energy, according to a survey.
The study by law firm Taylor Wessing revealed that 87 per cent of respondents believe the benefits of working in sustainable buildings will lead corporate occupiers to pay more to secure the building.
Helen Garthwaite, head of construction and engineering at Taylor Wessing, said: "This report reveals that far from putting the brakes on sustainable building, industry leaders could actually be using the economic downturn as an opportunity to boost their green credentials in preparation for proposed legislative developments in the area.
"More immediately, the realisation is also dawning that decisive action on sustainability may actually stimulate economic activity and job creation, while cost savings can be achieved through less energy consumption and greater waste reduction."
We can offer businesses advice on improving both their building's energy efficiency and on using renewable energy devices as well as offering them the opportunity to sign up to green tariffs.
