The first offshore wind farm ever to generate electricity in the UK has started up again following the completion of restoration work.
Our four megawatt (MW) facility at Blyth has been brought back online after an existing export power cable was damaged by the seabed.
The wind farm's two wind turbines are now fully operational following the installation of a new cable.
Martin Roberts, construction projects manager for E.ON, said: "The project has been tricky to get right and we've had to work around some rough weather during the last three months or so. But now it's great to see the turbines turning and producing power once again."
According to the British
Wind Energy Association, there are currently 2,340 wind turbines in operation across the UK.
They have a capacity to generate 3,239MW, enough to power the equivalent of 1,811,287 homes.
We have over 20 wind farms around the UK and are working on the London Array, which will be the biggest offshore wind farm when completed.
