Energy efficiency set to be a 2009 priority

Homeowners are likely to prioritise energy efficiency over the coming months after a new report has shown that saving money is a New Year's resolution for half of British consumers.

Research by the Association of British Insurers found that 47 per cent of Brits were determined to put more money aside in 2009.

One way to do this is through adopting energy saving measures within the household such as using low energy light bulbs and an efficient boiler.

Stephen Haddrill, the ABI's director general, said: "Our research shows that many people in Britain want to save more for the future.

"It's good news that even in this difficult economic climate, public attitudes are shifting towards saving."
