Residents of Chepstow are to get help slashing their energy bills by hundreds of pounds by a group that aims to make the town the UK's most insulated.

Transition Chepstow, a group of residents committed to fighting climate change and making the town a more sustainable and sociable place to live are advising residents on insulation.

They are going door to door around the town in a campaign to help residents take advantage of the energy savings to be made by installing insulation.

Armed with information from Monmouthshire county council and a south-east Wales energy advice centre, the South Wales Argus reports they are assisting residents to make use of grants offered by the government to make installing insulation free or half price.

Installing insulation is among a range of low cost moves which we recommend for households looking to cut their costs.

Others are using draught excluders under doors to stop draughts, hanging thick curtains in front of windows to eliminate heat loss and turning down the thermostat by one degree.
