A new scheme could see more homeowners achieving cheaper
gas and electricity bills thorough the installation of renewable energy technology.
The government has this week unveiled its UK Low Carbon Transition Plan.
Under the scheme, new 'pay as you go' pilot projects have been revealed, which allow Britons to make their properties greener, paying for the initial cost through the money they save with their cheaper gas and electric bills.
Such a move could have a positive impact on the number of people choosing to invest in renewable energy.
Indeed, Andrew Moore, managing director of British Eco Energy, said: "A lot of people would like to [install] renewable in their homes, it's just having the funding available to help them do it now."
He added that the government's proposals could have a "significant effect" and that similar schemes had already proven successful in Europe.
