One UK film director is focussing on sustainability as his next big project.
A planning application for Ashcombe House in Salisbury reveals that the estate's owner - director Guy Ritchie - hopes to soon be living the good life by growing all of his own produce.
"Produce from the greenhouses will be used on the estate, all part of an effort to make the estate more self-sufficient and sustainable," the application's design and access statement - which is a public document - notes.
The biggest investment carried out under the proposals will be the installation of a new heating system in the greenhouses, which will use a woodchip boiler.
Such a device uses
sustainable fuel rather than relying on a finite resource like gas, coal or oil.
The director, whose next cinematic project is a new Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law, previously shared the property with his ex-wife Madonna and their children.
Homeowners may also find that a new boiler can help them to go green.
The Energy Saving Trust recommends a condensing
gas boiler, which can lead to
cheaper gas bills as it is more energy efficient than other models.
