While
sustainable energy can reduce fuel bills and carbon emissions, more education is still needed on the subject, one sector commentator has asserted.
Helena Wright, renewable energy advisor at British Eco Energy, said more awareness needed to be raised about how cheap using renewable energy can be in the long term.
She added that using
sustainable energy would allow the UK to stop worrying about climate change and move towards a low carbon economy.
Ms Wright went on to states that renewable energy was very costs effective as once it had been installed it could supply households with power for years to come.
"People do not seem to realise that renewable energy is very economical. In the long term it is better to use renewable energy because you won't have to keep extracting fuel," she noted.
According to Friends of the Earth, the 15 per cent carbon reduction target which the EU has allocated to the UK would, if adopted, require Britain to generate about 40 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources.
