When it comes to
saving power and becoming more energy efficient, one newspaper has advised adding modulating boiler controls to a
gas boiler.
According to the Times, the devices work by gauging the temperature of a room so that when it reaches a preset heat the temperature of the boiler's hot-water cylinder is altered.
This means that rooms which are not frequently used do not get over-heated, saving energy to be spent on heating the rooms which are occupied more regularly.
As for the green credentials of the heating controls, the newspaper states: "It not only cuts energy bills by making your boiler more efficient, it also prolongs its life," adding that the investment is worth it as between ten and 20 per cent can be saved off heating bills.
The Telegraph's Kara Gammell recently stated that heating controls can reduce utilities bills by £275 a year if used in conjunction with a condensing boiler.
