The Welsh Assembly has launched an industry-backed group to help bring down the carbon dioxide emissions of the principality's buildings.
According to environment minister Jane Davidson, buildings account for the largest portion of Wales' carbon dioxide emissions.
The government aims for new builds to be zero carbon from 2011 and to reduce the region's overall emission by three per cent in areas over which it has control.
Launching the 'Zero Carbon Hub', which has building industry, housing and voluntary sector members, Ms Davidson said forming the coalition proved Wales was taking real action to make a difference.
She added: "The built environment is the largest contributor to greenhouse gases in Wales. The way in which we construct and use our homes and other buildings accounts for 40 per cent of our total carbon emissions. It is vital that all our new buildings are energy efficient and as green as possible."
With both energy efficiency and renewable energy central to cutting carbon emissions, we can provide assistance to businesses looking to green their operations.
As well as offering
green gas and electricity tariffs, we can provide advice on energy efficiency measures or even installing their own renewable energy devices.
