More than half the electricity needs of a curtain walling company in Hartlepool are to be met by three wind turbines it has installed.
Deepdale Solutions, which is expanding its manufacturing site and workforce provided most of the funding for its three wind turbines.
They will generate 60 per cent of the electricity needed by the company, the Evening Gazette reports.
Managing director of Deepdale Derek Muirhead told the newspaper: "The turbine project makes us the most carbon efficient company that we’re aware of in our sector. We have travelled to Europe and Canada to see what other companies are doing.
"Originally, the business case wasn’t that persuasive, then last year energy prices went up so much the payback time reduced from 15 years to eight and the case for turbines became more solid."
We can offer businesses advice on setting up and installing their own wind turbines.
Businesses that install
wind turbines can also earn government incentives.
