Gas condensing combination boilers are to be installed by the Falkirk Council in about 200 homes.
The new efficient boilers will replace old electrical based systems, which according to the Energy Saving Trust could
reduce fuel bills by a third.
As well as installing the gas condensing boilers, the council will install radiators and thermostatic controls with programmable heating and hot water controls.
Councillor Linda Gow, convener of the policy and resources committee said: "The work is part of a wider programme to give tenants better energy systems that are cheaper to run, more energy efficient and are more environmentally sound."
The council announced that the project will cost £455,000.
We can help households with reducing their energy bills.
As well as providing advice on new energy efficient boilers, we can also recommend other ways of saving energy such as installing
insulation, double glazing and solar thermal water heating.
