E.ON forms consortium to bid for wind project licenses

We have joined forces with DONG Energy and Fred Olsen Renewables to bid for licenses to develop offshore wind power projects.

Our new consortium has bid for the right to develop various sites as part of The Crown Estate's Round Three of licensing.

In total we have bid to develop thousands of megawatts of offshore capacity, in parts of the UK waters which will present bigger challenges than previous projects.

Our regional director for renewables Dave Rogers said: "In round three we'll see wind farms being built further offshore and in much more challenging environments than ever before."

The new projects will add to our total of 21 onshore and offshore projects already in place.

We are already working with DONG energy to develop the one gigawatt London Array wind farm in the Thames Estuary.

That project will have up to 271 turbines, each 175 meters tall to the top of the blade tip.
