E.ON planning large-scale solar project

Large-scale solar projects have been announced as part of our investment plans for the next three years.

Having established ourselves as one of the leaders in offshore wind power in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, we are now planning to branch into solar power generation.

In an announcement of our future investment plans, we noted that two thirds of the €10 billion we will spend in each of the next three years will go towards developing and expanding our generating capacity.

The renewable sector, which has seen double-digit growth rates, is still a growth business and we intend to continue expanding it and turning it into one of our core businesses.

We also announced that we are preparing several large-scale solar power plants in sun-rich regions.

Our renewable energy generation in the UK goes toward meeting government set renewables targets – by 2020, 15 per cent of energy is required to come from renewables.

It also creates green energy tariffs for homes and businesses that want to reduce their carbon footprint.
