All households in Sheffield are to get help
reducing their electricity and gas bills and carbon footprints.
The first phase of the scheme to provide all the Yorkshire city's households with free loft and cavity wall
insulation will cost over £10 million.
According to the Sheffield City Council it will have the effect of reducing energy bills by up to a third.
Councillor Bob McCann, cabinet member for housing and sustainable, safer communities, said: "The Sheffield City Council Free
Insulation Scheme will be rolled out to all residents, no matter what age you are or where you live.
"And this scheme will help people to save energy and save money."
Loft insulation should be laid at least 270 millimetres thick, according to the Energy Saving Trust.
It can save households about £205 a year, it claims.
We can help households with insulation and other energy saving measures such as more efficient boilers and double glazing.
