Britons interested in how
green energy provision is likely to develop in the UK may be pleased to hear that one commentator has claimed that the development of the country's largest wind farm is a sign of things to come.
According to a joint statement by DONG Energy, E.ON and Masdar published about the London Array, some 2.2 billion (£1.97 billion) is set to be invested in building the first 630MW phase of the London Array offshore wind farm in the Thames Estuary.
Once complete, the scheme will be the world's largest and the first one GW, offshore wind farm - supplying enough power through
wind energy for around 750,000 homes.
Commenting on the news, Peter Madigan, offshore wind development manager at the British
Wind Energy Association, said the group was "delighted" the plans were going ahead.
He added: "The potential for the UK to lead the world in this technology is there.
"It's an exciting prospect, it's got great potential, and it would be an absolute shame if the UK didn't capitalise on that."
