What is loft insulation?
Loft insulation involves adding insulation between the ceiling and the roof. Lofts should have the recommended level of 270mm (10.5”) of insulation. If you already have loft insulation which is up to 100mm (4”) thick we can still top it up to the recommended level.
When the weather is cold, you may find the temperature in the loft can be significantly lower than the rest of the house. For this reason, we also insulate the loft hatch, hot water tank and the cold water pipes to prevent them from freezing.

Is my property eligible?
A surveying company will undertake an assessment of your property to confirm that it is suitable for insulation. Once the surveyor has approved your property an approved installer will carry out your loft insulation.

Loft Installation Process
1. Once the surveyor has approved your property for installation, an approved installer will carry out your loft insulation.
2. Before the installer can lay insulation, you’ll need to clear your loft area and leave it unboarded. Sometimes, to gain access to your loft, it may be necessary to make your loft hatch bigger or fit a new one. This may incur an extra cost which will be quoted at the time of survey.
3. Rolls of mineral wool fibre are laid between and across the joists (wooden frame) in your roof space, until the depth reaches the recommended level of 250-270mm (10'').
4. When the weather is cold, you may find the temperature in the loft can be significantly lower than the rest of your house. For this reason, we also insulate the loft hatch and the cold water pipes and tanks to prevent them from freezing.
5. Your loft needs to breathe so the installer will leave a clear space around the ventilation areas in the walls. In some cases additional vents will be fitted to ensure adequate ventilation.
6. The work usually takes 1-2 hours depending on the size of your property.
