CaringEnergy At E.ON we’re committed to helping vulnerable customers achieve affordable warmth in their homes.
CaringEnergy offers vulnerable customers a straightforward route into the range of products, measures and services we offer which aim to reduce energy bills, improve energy efficiency, increase household income and affordably heat homes.
Below shows what CaringEnergy can help you with. Information on CaringEnergy is also available in large print for our visually impaired customers. This can be requested via our CaringEnergy Team or you can view or download the leaflet - this opens in new window.
Through CaringEnergy we can help with the following:
1. Free and discounted energy efficiency measures
E.ON offers a range of free and discounted energy efficiency measures for all of its customers. Typically, most houses can waste up to 33% of their heat through outside walls. Cavity wall insulation is the most effective way to improve the energy efficiency of a property and could save a household up to £235 a year on their energy bills. (Savings based on a typical 1950 three bed semi-detached house.)
2. Free energy efficiency advice
We have simple tips on how to save energy – which we can talk through over the phone, send out by post or in some cases can arrange for one of our Community Energy Advisors to visit to give expert help in the home. We also provide an online energy audit where customers can produce their own tailored energy survey by following a straightforward questionnaire on our website.
3. Free benefit entitlement checks
We offer benefit checks to ensure that customers are claiming all the state benefits and credits that they are entitled to.
4. Advice on payment methods and tariffs We can give advice on the best payment methods – especially for those customers who are facing financial difficulties.
WarmAssist offers our most vulnerable existing customers a 15% discount on our standard gas and electricity prices.
If you are an existing E.ON customer, 60 or over and in receipt of Pension Credit, to find out how you may be eligible for our WarmAssist tariff please call 0800 404 6287.
Terms & Conditions apply.
5. Referrals to other grant schemes
When we are not able to help with our own products, measures and services we will always try to refer customers to another source of assistance. We can help by referring customers to the Government schemes that are available for example Warm Front in England, Warm Deal in Scotland and HEES in Wales.
6. E.ON CaringEnergy Fund
The E.ON CaringEnergy Fund aims to assist E.ON customers who are living in low income households (a household income of less than £16,040pa and savings below £8000). They may be facing financial difficulty and may not be eligible for financial help from Government schemes.
The E.ON CaringEnergy Fund could offer the following assistance to successful applicants:
- payments in full or part to cover the cost of installing cavity wall insulation and/or loft insulation
- payments in full or part to cover the cost of repairing or installing heating measures which in some cases could include repair of unsafe gas heating systems
- payments in full or part could be made to cover the cost of household appliances.
If you think the CaringEnergy team may be able to help you, call us on 0800 051 1480. Lines open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm.
7. Priority Services Register
Our Priority Services Register offers a number of services, free of charge, to vulnerable customers including;
- Talking, Braille or large print bills
- Annual gas safety checks
- Minicom/textphone facilities
Energy Best Deal Campaign
E.ON is helping to fund the Energy Best Deal campaign, which will be delivered by Citizens Advice Bureaux and other organisations.
The Energy Best Deal campaign will see 378 advice sessions held across England and Wales. These sessions are aimed at customers most likely to fall into fuel poverty such as pensioners and those on low incomes. An equal number of sessions will be aimed at frontline workers and volunteers who work with these groups.
