Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous gas that has no colour, taste or smell and can be produced by appliances that use gas or solid fuel if they’re not properly installed and regularly maintained.

To protect you and your family from carbon monoxide poisoning it’s important to have all your fuel burning appliances safety checked every year by a qualified installer. All gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe™ register. For engineers approved to work with solid fuel appliances contact HETAS® and for oil burning appliances contact OFTEC

Fitting an audible carbon monoxide alarm is also important because it will alert you if there are dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in your home. The alarms are battery operated and are available from our webshop.

If you're concerned about the threat of carbon monoxide poisoning whilst on holiday, in the UK or abroad, you can take a battery-operated alarm with you. Just take the batteries out whilst you're travelling. You can use the same alarm at home and on holiday.

If you receive means tested benefits you may qualify for a free gas safety check which would spot any noxious gas leaks in your home. If you think you maybe eligible call us on 0845 059 9905*.

Please visit the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed website for further information about the campaign and about how to stay safe.
