1. Customers over-80 receive £20
The £10 guaranteed cold weather payment is only applicable to Single Gas or Dual Fuel customers. Customers aged 80 or over will receive £20. It will be credited as a rebate following the end of March and will be shown on the following bill; customers who pay by prepayment meter will receive a cheque. The cold weather payment is in addition to any winter fuel and cold weather payment you may receive from the Government.
2. Additional payment
Gas customers aged 60 and over may receive an additional payment beyond this guaranteed amount, based on the number of days the temperature is below freezing point between December and February (the temperature is taken from the Pickering Weather station in Yorkshire, one of the coldest places in the UK). This will now give the equivalent of an extra three hours’ gas fire heating for each qualifying day. This is based on a gas fire usage of 3.9kWh per hour.
3. Discounts on cavity wall and loft insulation
The scheme is available to homeowners and private tenants. It excludes housing associations, council tenants, flats and maisonettes. Insulation may be available to customers where the existing depth is less than 6cm. Lofts in excess of 6cm may require loft top-up which may have additional charges. All applications are subject to a free survey being carried out which we’ll arrange for you. It will be completed by one of our appointed installers or a company acting on their behalf. This will identify whether your property is suitable to have the insulation measures installed. They will also clarify if there are any extra charges, for example, if scaffolding or vents are required or if the property is larger than the average size for the property type. Please note there will be Terms and Conditions for the installation, which will be set out in your contract with your appointed installer. Prior to undertaking any work, you or your landlord will receive a written quotation setting out the scope of the insulation work including any charges, and work will only be carried out when written acceptance has been received by the installer. We only use mineral wool for insulation cavity walls. E.ON reserves the right to change or withdraw this offer at any time.
