FAQ Subject - Understanding Your Bill

Why is my natural gas usage converted to kWh on my bill?

Even though your gas meter records your consumption in hundred cubic feet for imperial meters or cubic metres (if you have a metric meter) we bill you in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

This makes your bill more consistent, is one of our Licence requirements, and is helpful if you need to compare your gas with your electricity charges, which are billed in kWh.

A kilowatt-hour is an amount of energy equal to 1 kilowatt (1000 Watts) operating for 1 hour.
