E.ON Technology GmbH (ETG) Trainee

“It's great, no one treats me differently because I'm a woman. I'm learning loads and enjoying it as I rotate through the departments. Then I get to make a decision on which department I want to work in.”

What we do

At E.ON Technologies we have a highly diverse business where we employ the skills of a team of scientists, engineers, and project managers. Together, they apply their talents to some of the toughest engineering challenges around, while robustly enforcing the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management. Join us, and you’ll be part of an international team who are serving customers in more than 42 countries. We have more than 2,000 projects in the UK, Europe and further afield in Russia as well as South America. We make sure we continuously develop the skills of all our staff, so that we can confidently face the future opportunities in the ever changing energy market sector.

What you’ll do

You’ll be learning through a mix of on the job experience and specialised training. You’ll spend 90 days at our neighbouring E.ON Academy over the course of the two years, which will enable you to attain an NVQ level 3 in a mechanical or electrical subject. If you achieve everything we expect of you we could take you through to another two years advanced programme, which would lead to an HNC. Working on site at Ratcliffe-on-Soar, you’ll be able to apply your knowledge in a real working environment, as you learn all about various types of power plant and how to monitor their condition and optimise their performance.

What we’re looking for

To join us, you’ll need a National Certificate, BTEC or A Levels in an Engineering, Process or a Technology related subject. You should also have five A-C grades at GCSE including English, Maths, Science or Technology. A real fascination for all things mechanical and electrical and a desire to go far in an engineering career are also a must. You’re keen to do a hands on role, have a responsible attitude to safety, and love working in a team.
