Training and development

Unique to E.ON, our in house Engineering Academy or partnered colleges will provide your training and development to help you further your engineering career. Our vision is to be recognised as the leader in engineering training within the power industry and with our experienced training team, you will be learning from the best. We see apprentices as our future engineers. So from day one we'll make a serious investment in your training. Following your own personal development plan, you'll receive support to gain City and Guilds Certificates, BTEC, HNC, or NVQ depending on your scheme.

Developing your skills

Training will never be in short supply. As well as on the job coaching, you’ll benefit from around 40 weeks of intense training courses, ranging from Machining, Electrical Safety & Principles and Shaft Alignment providing you with the skills required to work in the engineering industry. We also provide courses and e-learning opportunities in various soft skills such as assertiveness training and presentation delivery.

Giving you international exposure

We’re part of the E.ON group, with more than 62,000 people worldwide, so you might find opportunities to work internationally or experience an international visit whilst on the apprenticeship or once you qualify.

Setting out goals

From the outset, you’ll be assigned a line manager and a site supervisor who together will help you create your own personal development plan. As well as your strengths, this will identify the areas you need to develop. It will form the roadmap for your professional journey within E.ON and it will continuously evolve with you.

Getting you qualified

E.ON is recognised by many professional and engineering bodies. Our apprenticeship is accredited by major professional engineering institutions. We’ll give you the time and funding you need to become qualified academically and gain Engineering Technician status.
