What We Do

E.ON provides electricity and gas to 35 million customers – over five million of them here in the UK. It’s incredibly complex work. It takes the talents of 62,000 people to do what we do. Yet our vision is a simple one.
We want to be the trusted energy partner for our customers.

what we do

So how are we building this trust?

1. We reliably meet energy needs, each and every day

People rely on us for their daily electricity and gas. We meet those needs by operating a range of power plants across the country, relying on gas, wind, coal and biomass. We also manage 13 oil and gas fields across the UK, Norway and Russia.

2. We make energy simpler

As a business, we’re talking to our customers and finding out what they really want. This has led to lots of innovations in recent years such as clear, single sheet bills and fewer tariffs that are easier to understand. With your help, it will lead to lots more.

3. We help people get energy smart

Across the UK, we’ve introduced SMART meters into customer homes. Our telephone advisors now provide free energy saving advice as a matter of routine. We also have teams in the field carrying out energy saving home improvements such as loft insulation.

4. We’re innovators in renewable energy

We already own 23 wind farms and we’re developing more right now. We’re also partners in the London Array, the largest offshore wind farm in the world. Biomass could meet as much as a quarter of the UK’s renewable energy needs and we lead the way here, too.

5. We’re pioneering new technologies

Here in the UK, we were the first utility company to test a marine energy device. What’s more, we’ve got many more projects in development right now, involving everything from developing solar energy to breeding CO2 consuming microalgae.
