Engineering Undergraduate Placement

I’m currently on an undergraduate placement with the Condition Monitoring team: the people responsible for monitoring the condition of E.ON’s key assets like power plants and wind farms.
My placement has seen me focus on our wind farm assets. The work has been really interesting. I’ve been programming and creating tools — and as the year has progressed I’ve been given more and more responsibility. Despite being an undergraduate, I was given the trust and freedom to develop a new program to keep daily logs on what is happening at the wind farms. The software tracks the conditions of turbines and is used by all people who work on the site.
I have to say this placement has been a great way to experience the working world and this has largely been down to the people. The culture here is really friendly and supportive. From my very first interview, I clicked with the people at E.ON. And now that I’m here, I love the team I’ve been assigned to. Everyone is really sociable and I’ve met so many diverse and interesting people.
