Commercial Analyst

Acquisitions, carve outs, integration, growth, change, heat, business development – the Commercial Team is like no other. Part of our New Business division, the Commercial team is at the forefront of business growth and change. Your placement will give you the opportunity to get involved in identifying and developing business opportunities as well as building a strong understanding of the profitable management of projects and contracts. You could be analysing the competitor landscape, customer needs, costs and capabilities. Or you could be completing analytical research into a specific market or a potential acquisition target, performing due diligence of that company. Equally, you could spend time investigating synergies and opportunities for further growth in any of our business units. You will be in a perfect position to gain exposure to a number of key areas within the New Business function and will discover that here, no two days are the same.

What we're looking for

You will be working towards a degree in any discipline – and on track for at least a 2:1.  You work well under pressure, are passionate about driving change and improvements and you thrive in a fast paced environment.  In short; if you have a strong commercial acumen and a mindset which is both creative and strategic, this placement will build your skills to prepare you for a great future career.  The placement is based in either Nottingham or Coventry – you’ll be able to choose your preferred based location. However you will be required to frequently travel between the two sites so a full driving licence will be advantageous.

Corporate Responsibility Junior Executive

An opportunity has arisen within our Corporate Responsibility team for a Junior Executive to lead a project over a 10 week placement.  You will be involved with the implementation and delivery of the Corporate Responsibility approach and programme, as well as ensuring continuous improvement.  As part of the Corporate Responsibility engagement campaign you will engage with and communicate our business strategy and progress to customers, colleagues and stakeholders as well as demonstrating transparency and the actions we are taking to build trust Key responsibilities include public commitments, assurance of non-financial KPIs, the UK input into our Group Corporate Sustainability Report and perhaps most importantly, handling our Treating Our Customers Fairly statements.  After all, our customers are at the heart of everything we do.

What we're looking for

You will be a capable decision maker – able to act on your own initiative, but still comfortable working within a team.  You won’t be afraid to challenge the status quo and push things forward and you’ll have excellent communication skills.  Thanks to your organisational abilities, you’ll have no problem delivering quality and effective plans to tight deadlines at any given time.  You could be working towards a degree in any discipline but should be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 and an interest in sustainability would certainly give you the edge.  This role will be based at our Westwood office in Coventry.

Environmental Scientist

The Permitting & Environmental Compliance Department of E.ON Technologies provides a comprehensive range of environmental services to E.ON and external customers, including environmental modelling and impact assessment, ambient air quality and noise monitoring,   and guidance on legislation to name but a few.  This is an opportunity for an undergraduate to join us for a 10 week summer placement at the heart of some of the most important issues that the energy industry must address.  You will work closely with lead scientists and engineers on various projects which could be; assisting in the development of ecological management plans or developing an understanding of contaminated land issues and their impact on E.ON as a business.  There are loads of directions this placement could go in.  One thing is for certain though, whatever the project, this internship will give you insights into key environmental considerations within an energy business and stand you in great stead for your future career.

What we're looking for

We’re looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate with drive, determination and resilience. The placement will see you working with stakeholders from across the company and beyond and at all levels.  For this, your strong collaborative values and excellent communication skills will prove invaluable.  You could be studying a degree in any natural science discipline, but should be on track for a 2:1 or higher.  The role is based at our Technology Centre adjacent to Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottinghamshire, but occasional travel to other sites will be required, so a full driving licence would be a considerable advantage.

Performance Engineer

Community Energy is a fast growing business delivering low carbon district heating solutions across the UK. Currently with 27 sites and 10,000 residential customers the business is experiencing an exciting period of growth. This role will give you the responsibility of delivering specific improvements to one of our energy centre assets.  You will analyse operational performance data and develop the necessary engineering solutions to improve commercial performance.  You’ll also analyse the thermal loss data for the energy centre and district heating network to keep losses at a minimum and in turn improve efficiency.  Finally you will review the electrical consumption of the energy centre to ensure maximum output.  Working with experienced performance engineers, this is a great chance to see some of the most innovative engineering first hand.  Impress us here and you could find yourself fast tracked to one of our engineering graduate placement assessment centres.

What we're looking for

You’ll be studying towards a degree in Engineering and on track for at least a 2:1. With a keen interest in sustainability and low carbon engineering, you’ll be prepared to make a big difference to our business and keep our energy production as clean and efficient as possible. This placement is at our Citigen office in London.

 

Low Carbon Energy Engineer

Community Energy is a fast growing business delivering low carbon district heating solutions across the UK. Currently with 27 sites and 10,000 residential customers the business is experiencing an exciting period of growth.  You will work within the Community Energy operations asset engineering team which is responsible for ensuring the operational asset fleet is compliant to current engineering standards and carrying out fleet wide improvements to help deliver the business focus of customer satisfaction, excellent health, safety, environment standards and value for the business. This position will give you exposure to many areas of the Community Energy business and the opportunity to make a real difference to both the business and our customers. The Asset Engineering team is also one of the most dynamic learning environments and you can expect work in a challenging role where no day is ever the same. At the end of your 10 week placement, expect to have lowered carbon at one of our sites, made an improvement to asset management and presented your own idea to senior management.  These are great opportunities and outstanding performance can lead to a fast track to one of our graduate assessment centres.

What we're looking for

You’ll be studying towards a degree in Engineering and on track for at least a 2:1. You’ll be a talented problem solver and have strong planning, organisational and project management skills.  The role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that plant operates reliably and delivers customer requirements – so excellent communication and influencing skills are a must.  And because this is a new area of business you will need drive and resilience to deal with unexpected changes. This role is based in London but with UK wide travel required.
