Power stations fuelled by biomass can play a key role in meeting the UK’s energy needs.
Biomass can be described as any organic material which is available on a renewable basis. This includes sustainable forestry, specially grown energy crops such as willow, co-products such as sawmill residues and recycled waste wood. Generating renewable energy from biomass has the potential to make a significant contribution to fulfilling the UK's heat and energy generation needs in the future.
We are a leader in the development of biomass generation and currently operate one of the UK's largest dedicated biomass plants at Steven's Croft in Scotland and the Blackburn Meadows Renewable Energy Plant in Sheffield.
