Harehill

At the time of their construction in 2004, the turbines at Harehill Wind Farm were the largest and most powerful in the UK. A locally based company, AMEC Wind Services, initially developed the site and also provided project management during the construction phase.

Construction on the site began in the summer of 2003, with the turbines delivered to Hartlepool docks and then transported in sections to site in delivery vehicles up to 50m long in October 2003 – around the same length of five London busses!

In 2015, Harehill Wind Farm generated enough power to supply nearly 2,000 homes.*
