Public Rights Of Way

During the construction of the onshore substation and cable route, we’ll be crossing 32 Public Rights of Way (PRoW). On the maps below, you can see how we’ve divided the route into 12 stages, and more detail on the PRoW locations in each of those stages.

Detailed Stage Maps with PRoW Locations

For each of the other PRoW crossings, we’ll be looking to minimise any closures, and provide suitable temporary diversions where necessary. For the majority of the crossings, we will have four non-consecutive days of closures throughout the cable route construction period to allow work to take place within the Public Right of Way. Two longer term closures are expected and suitable diversions will be established. PRoW 8T will be permanently diverted as a result of the works for the onshore substation. The new route has been agreed with West Sussex County Council.

The works will commence at the onshore substation (Stage 1), and the remaining 11 stages of work will be constructed broadly south to north from the coast. Due to the flexibility in the construction programme, we aren’t able to give specific dates of closures for the PRoW routes significantly in advance of construction. However, you’ll see signage on the routes 14 days before any anticipated closures, and more detailed information posted 5 days before the closure. We’ll also be updating the table below with advanced warning of any closures.
