We've identified this area as a possible site for a new wind farm and are currently undertaking survey work to produce a local planning application. This site is on the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) land to the north of our current operational Camster Wind Farm.
We recently gained planning permission from the Highland Council to install two Anemometer (Met) Masts on site. The masts will gather information about wind and other weather-related data, and will help us to identify the best areas to place turbines within the site. We hope to start construction on the Met Masts over the summer of 2016.
Our independent environmental consultants will undertake a series of surveys to assess the impact on the proposed wind farm. Their findings will form part of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which will detail the surveys and proposed measures to help reduce any impacts, if appropriate.
The EIA will form part of our planning application that we plan to submit in 2017. We will have an update to the local CLG later in 2016 with the updated programme and current status of the site.
