What do people think of renewables today?

With energy at the heart of the climate crisis and renewable energy key in helping the UK reach its targets to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality, we wanted to highlight what people think about renewables today.

People are already engaged with renewable energy – some 82% of people in the UK support renewable energy and only 3% oppose it, providing a real boost to the UK renewable energy market. And if greater government assistance existed, 62% of people in the UK would install solar panels and 60% would install home energy storage

At E.ON, we have more than 25 years’ experience in renewable energy and have helped the industry reach a place where renewable energy can outperform fossil generators. We’re now using that expertise to help our customers make changes at home and at work.

Our customers need to be at the heart of not only our business but the transition to a cleaner energy system. We actively, and regularly, ask our customers for feedback to identify areas where we could improve. And from monitoring our customer feedback, we discovered that our customers not only supported renewable energy but demanded it from us too.

We listened to our customers and acted on it – we now supply all our customers’ homes with electricity backed by 100% renewable sources as standard1. We’re leading the energy transition and enabling our customers to reduce their carbon footprint and impact on the environment.

And we’re pleased that our customers have welcomed our switch to renewable electricity, joining us on the journey to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system.

We believe the future energy system is smart, sustainable and personalised and 100% renewable electricity is the first step for many people. We’re committed to delivering a low-carbon future and enabling our customers to create a sustainable life through energy solutions. We not only offer all our residential customers 100% renewable electricity as standard1 but we also offer solar panels, battery storage, EV charging and smart meters.

And as we move ever closer to the energy system of the future, we’ll continue to ask our customers for their feedback. We’ll listen and act on this feedback to make sure that we deliver for our customers and help them to make their lives more sustainable.
