A reliable partner for energy connections

Browns needed a reliable energy partner to carry out grid connection work on a new social housing construction project for North Kesteven District Council. Our grid connection team were able to meet their bespoke needs across four different sites, taking care of every aspect of the project, from designing the network, to carrying out the works.

What we delivered...

Housing connections

We connected houses to the grid at 4 of Brown's development sites, and installed their meters.

Groundwork for EV infrastructure

We laid all important groundworks to enable future connections for EV charging in each property.

Street lighting

We designed and installed appropriate street lighting across the social housing project.

Connections & groundwork

The initial phase involved us safely connecting four new properties to an existing mains line that ran beneath a newly-formed car park. After completing this part of the project, we led on the groundworks to install a brand new mains cable beneath a road, and connect an additional three new properties.

We carried out this same work at a different site, laying new cabling beneath the roadway and connecting two new properties to the grid.

Future proofing sites

Building regulations have changed a lot in the last 10 years, many of the changes are related to carbon reduction with EV infrastructure an ever growing priority. So for each of the housing connections, we calculated the necessary load capacities required for future installation of EV chargers, ensuring Browns were set up to meet the changing landscape of building regulations around provision of electric vehicle charge points.

A whole package of solutions

We're always willing to offer additional solutions and Browns were happy to take us up on that offer. Along with the grid connections we took care of their street lighting requirements across each site completing both the contestable and non-contestable elements of the works under our NERS (National Electricity Registration Scheme) accreditation.  We even picked up metering with our new connections team installing meters within each property.
