We installed a 12 metre wind turbine at Lake View Primary School. A display unit that shows the school's children how much energy is being generated was also installed and the equipment will help the school save 2.7 tonnes of carbon each year.
Our Sustainable Energy team has developed a unique education pack that provides teachers with resources such as downloadable lesson plans and presentations.
The programme is aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 16 and was designed to suit Key Stages 1-4, approved by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
Other schools are being encouraged to follow in Lake View's footsteps so that more young people can learn about the ways that microgeneration technologies can help change the way we think about and use energy.
