Heat pumps

While ground source heat pumps (GSHP) utilise naturally occurring heat from under the ground, air source heat pumps (ASHP) extract heat from the air outside, even at low temperatures. Both provide heating and hot water.

Illustrates an air source heat pump placed outside the house and supplying heat to underfloor heating and the hot water tank.

Diagram 2

Shows a ground source heat pump where vertical pipes set deep underground extract heat to warm the water supply in the house.
