What is ECO?
ECO is a new Government led energy saving scheme funded by energy suppliers. It aims to reduce the amount of energy homes in Britain use and waste, and also ease fuel poverty. Through the scheme we’ll be helping those who qualify become more energy efficient by providing funding for energy saving measures.
ECO is made up of three parts, all aimed at helping people in certain circumstances save more energy, and money;
You could get help towards loft insulation or cavity wall insulation, or a replacement boiler if yours is broken or not working properly, and is more than 5 years old. To be eligible, you’ll need to own your own home or rent privately from a landlord and claim certain income related benefits.

How do I apply?
We’re currently offering funding for insulation under existing government schemes. To see if you qualify for help, see our energy saving home improvements pages.
If you don’t qualify at the moment, come back in the new year to check our new offers and see if you can benefit.
Also known as Affordable Warmth, this part of the scheme is designed to make heating your home more affordable. Energy saving measures available include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, boiler replacements if your boiler is broken and new central heating systems. All of these could save you energy and money. To get the funding for these measures households will need to be on qualifying benefits and either own their home or rent privately.
This focuses more on properties that are typically harder to heat. These properties must have solid wall or hard to treat cavity insulation installed by us under CERO, with other improvements such as loft insulation upgrade then available if required. Social housing, privately owned or rented properties may receive funding under this scheme.
This specifically looks after the areas that need energy efficiency improvements the most. We’ll continue to work with Registered Social Landlords in eligible postcode areas to make energy saving improvements at no cost to their tenants. These improvements include solid wall, cavity wall and loft insulation.
Funding may also be available for privately owned or rented properties in these areas.
